Billing and Payment: When and How You Pay DomuTax
DomuTax bills only after achieving savings. Learn when invoices arrive, payment options, and what to expect after a successful protest.
You've Signed Up, We've Done the Work, and We Saved You Money. Here's What Happens Next.
Since DomuTax operates on a contingency basis, billing only occurs after we've successfully reduced your property taxes. This means most clients go through the entire protest process — enrollment, filing, hearings, negotiations — without paying anything.
Once results are in and savings are confirmed, we send an invoice. We know billing questions can be stressful — that's why we keep it simple. This article explains exactly when that happens and how the payment process works.
When Billing Occurs
DomuTax bills after your protest is resolved and savings are determined. Here's what to expect:
You receive your Notice of Appraised Value in April or May, and DomuTax files your protest before the deadline. Your protest is then scheduled and resolved through informal hearings and, if necessary, Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearings between May and August. Most residential cases conclude during the summer months.
After all protests are resolved, appraisal districts certify final values — typically in August or September. This is when your savings become official. Once your protest outcome is finalized, DomuTax sends an invoice. Most clients receive invoices between August and October, though timing varies by county and how long the hearing process takes.
Important: You are never billed until your protest has concluded, a value reduction has been achieved, and your savings have been calculated. If your protest doesn't result in savings, you receive no invoice. Period.
What Your Invoice Includes
Your DomuTax invoice provides complete transparency about how your fee was calculated. Here's what you'll see when you open your invoice:
Your Property: Address, account number, and tax year
The Results: Original assessed value (what the appraisal district initially proposed), final assessed value (after protest resolution), and the value reduction we achieved
Your Savings: Total tax rate applied, first-year tax savings amount, and how we calculated it
Your Fee: Contingency percentage (22%), fee amount due, and payment due date
How to Pay: Accepted payment methods, where to send payment, and online payment options (if available)
Everything is itemized so you can verify the calculation matches the formula explained in our fee calculation guide. No hidden fees, no vague charges — just a clear accounting of savings and the corresponding fee.
Payment Options
DomuTax offers convenient payment options to make this easy:
How You Can Pay:
- Credit card or debit card (online)

Common Billing Questions
"What if I think there's an error?"
Let us know. We'll review the calculation and fix anything that's off. Your invoice shows exactly how we got the numbers, so you can double-check yourself too.
"What if I need more time to pay?"
Contact us. We understand that unexpected expenses happen, and we're willing to work with clients in good faith.
"Are there any other fees?"
No. The contingency fee is the only fee DomuTax charges. There are no administrative fees, processing fees, hearing fees, or hidden charges of any kind.
"What about next year?"
Your current invoice covers this year's protest only. If you've enrolled in multi-year representation, you'll be represented again next year, with a separate invoice only if next year's protest is successful.
"When do I pay my actual property taxes?"
DomuTax fees are separate from your property tax bill. Your property taxes are still due to your county by January 31 (standard deadline). The DomuTax fee is for our services, not an advance payment of taxes.
The Bottom Line
At DomuTax, billing is simple: we succeed, we send an invoice. After payment, you're all set until next year. You always know exactly what you're paying and why.
Billing only occurs after successful results, invoices are clear and transparent, and you have multiple convenient payment options. No hidden fees — ever.
