DomuTax Terms of Service
Last Updated: February 23, 2026
1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to DomuTax LLC ("DomuTax," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the DomuTax website (www.domutax.com), client portal, and property tax protest services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing our website, creating an account, or signing our Property Tax Representation Agreement, you ("Client," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Services.
These Terms incorporate and are supplemented by the DomuTax Property Tax Representation Agreement ("Representation Agreement"), which you sign when enrolling a property. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Representation Agreement, the Representation Agreement shall control with respect to the specific property and tax year covered.
2. Definitions
- Appointment of Agent (AoA): A client-signed authorization that allows DomuTax to act on the property owner's behalf before the County Appraisal District.
- County Appraisal District (CAD): The county authority responsible for appraising property values and handling protests (e.g., HCAD for Harris County, TCAD for Travis County).
- Client: An individual who has signed the Representation Agreement and Appointment of Agent form for at least one property.
- Notice of Appraised Value (NoAV): The official notice sent by the CAD informing property owners of their appraised value for the current tax year.
- Representation Agreement (RA): The legal document signed by the Client and DomuTax that authorizes DomuTax to represent the Client in property tax protest proceedings and outlines the terms of that engagement.
- Tax Savings: The difference between the original appraised value and the final reduced value, multiplied by the applicable tax rate for the property, as determined after the conclusion of the protest process (including informal negotiations, Appraisal Review Board hearings, or any subsequent proceedings).
3. Eligibility
To use DomuTax Services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be the owner of a residential property (single-family home, condo, or townhome) located in one of the counties we serve, or be authorized by the property owner to act on their behalf.
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration and throughout the protest process.
DomuTax currently serves residential properties in the following Texas counties: Tarrant, Denton, Dallas, Collin (Dallas-Fort Worth metro); Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery (Houston metro); Bexar (San Antonio); Travis and Williamson (Austin).
We do not handle commercial properties, multi-family properties with five or more units, or vacant land. For commercial property inquiries, please visit our website to be connected with our commercial partner.
4. Scope of Services
DomuTax provides a single, end-to-end service: online property tax protesting for residential properties in Texas. When you enroll a property, DomuTax will:
a) Property Tax Monitoring and Appealing
- Monitor your property's appraised value as published by the applicable County Appraisal District.
- Analyze your property using comparable sales data and proprietary analytics to determine if a reduction opportunity exists.
- File a formal protest on your behalf if a reduction opportunity is identified.
- Prepare professional-grade evidence to support your case.
- Negotiate with the appraisal district on your behalf through informal hearings.
- Represent you at Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearings, whether in person or via affidavit, if informal negotiations do not resolve the protest.
b) Tax Exemption Monitoring
- Review your property's exemption status and notify you if you may qualify for exemptions you have not yet claimed (e.g., homestead exemption, Over 65 exemption).
DomuTax handles the entire protest process on your behalf. You are not required to attend hearings, prepare evidence, or interact with the appraisal district.
5. Client Registration and Account
To enroll a property, you must create an account on the DomuTax client portal and complete the following steps:
- Provide your personal and property information.
- Complete any required intake survey.
- Sign the Representation Agreement electronically.
- Sign the Appointment of Agent (AoA) form, authorizing DomuTax to act on your behalf before the County Appraisal District.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify DomuTax promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
6. Authorization and Representation
By signing the Representation Agreement and Appointment of Agent form, you authorize DomuTax to:
- Act as your designated agent before the County Appraisal District and any related governmental body for the purpose of protesting your property's appraised value.
- Access your property records, appraisal data, and related public information as needed to prepare and present your case.
- File protests, attend hearings, negotiate settlements, and take all actions reasonably necessary to pursue a reduction in your property's appraised value.
- Receive notices, communications, and decisions from the appraisal district on your behalf.
This authorization remains in effect for the duration of the Agreement Term (see Section 9) unless terminated in accordance with these Terms.
7. Fees and Payment
Fee Structure
DomuTax operates on a contingency fee model. You pay nothing unless we successfully reduce your property's appraised value.
| Property Valuation (Notice of Appraised Value) | Contingency Fee |
|---|---|
| $500,000 or higher | 20% of Tax Savings |
| Under $500,000 | 25% of Tax Savings |
How Tax Savings are calculated: Tax Savings equals the difference between the original appraised value and the final reduced value, multiplied by the applicable tax rate for the property.
Special Case: Over 65 Exemption Properties
Properties with an "Over 65" exemption are subject to a minimum fee of $100, payable upfront at the time of enrollment. This minimum applies because many taxing units (including all Independent School Districts) impose a tax ceiling on Over 65 properties, meaning 50–90% of their property taxes may be frozen and cannot be reduced through protest. The $100 minimum ensures DomuTax can cover the cost of protesting the non-frozen portion.
Payment Terms
- Contingency fees are due within 30 days of the date DomuTax issues an invoice, which occurs after protest results are finalized and Tax Savings have been confirmed.
- No credit card or upfront payment is required at the time of enrollment (except for Over 65 exemption properties as noted above).
- Unpaid balances after the 30-day period are subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month (18% annually) on the outstanding balance.
- If collection efforts become necessary, the Client agrees to pay all reasonable costs of collection, including attorney's fees.
- Properties are protested annually. Fees are charged only for savings obtained in a given tax year.
Grandfathered Pricing (2024–2025 Enrollees)
Clients who enrolled with DomuTax during 2024 or 2025 are grandfathered into the 2025 fee structure (20% of Tax Savings for all properties, regardless of appraised value) for as long as they remain active DomuTax clients. If a grandfathered client terminates their agreement and later re-enrolls, the then-current fee structure will apply.
8. No Guarantee of Results
DomuTax will use commercially reasonable efforts and professional expertise to pursue a reduction in your property's appraised value. However, DomuTax does not and cannot guarantee any specific outcome, including but not limited to:
- That a protest will be filed (if analysis determines no reasonable basis for protest exists).
- That any particular reduction amount will be achieved.
- That the appraisal district or ARB will rule in your favor.
Property tax protest outcomes depend on many factors beyond DomuTax's control, including appraisal district policies, market conditions, comparable sales data, and ARB panel decisions.
9. Agreement Term and Renewal
The Representation Agreement is effective from the date of signing and covers the current tax year. The agreement automatically renews on January 1 of each subsequent year for the following tax year, unless terminated by either party in accordance with Section 10.
Upon renewal, DomuTax will continue to monitor your property's appraised value and protest on your behalf for the new tax year under the same terms, subject to any updates to these Terms or the fee structure that may be communicated in advance.
10. Termination and Cancellation
By the Client
- The Representation Agreement cannot be cancelled for the current tax year once a protest has been filed or services have commenced for that tax year.
- To prevent automatic renewal for the following tax year, the Client must provide written notice to DomuTax by March 15 of the year for which they wish to cancel.
- Written notice may be submitted via the client portal, email, or any other method specified by DomuTax.
By DomuTax
DomuTax may terminate the agreement at any time and for any reason by providing written notice to the Client. If DomuTax terminates the agreement:
- No fees will be charged for the tax year in which termination occurs, unless savings have already been achieved prior to termination.
- DomuTax will use reasonable efforts to ensure the Client's protest rights are preserved if termination occurs during an active protest cycle.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, DomuTax is released from any further obligation to represent the Client. Any fees owed for savings already achieved prior to the effective date of termination remain due and payable.
11. Communication Consent
By creating an account and using the Services, you consent to receive communications from DomuTax via email, SMS/text message, and through the client portal. These communications may include:

In the event of a force majeure, DomuTax will use reasonable efforts to resume performance as soon as practicable and will notify affected Clients of any material delays.
