  1. Texas appraisal districts must send value notices by April 1 (or May 1 for homesteads) to property owners or their designated agents if a property’s value increases, changes ownership, or is reappraised.
  2. Actual savings are not guaranteed, as they depend on the judgment of county appraisers and the Appraisal Review Board.

    • Assessed Value: The County Appraisal District (CAD) determines the market value of your home each year. Whenever the CAD raises your property appraised value, they are obligated notify the property owner. This notice is typically sent in early April.
    • Tax Rate: The tax rate is set by local taxing entities, including counties, cities, school districts, and special districts. It is expressed as a percentage or in cents per $100 of assessed value (e.g., a 2.0% rate = $2.00 per $100).
